Cathy Tierny is a police sergeant. Jerry first meets her at a police station when Kramer and George are speaking with a sketch artist.
Jerry goes on a date with Cathy (she does not bring her gun) and soon after she asks Jerry a question about the television drama Melrose Place, which he claims to have never watched. Cathy does not believe him and thinks he watches it, so she plans to hook him up to a lie detector test to see if he has seen it or not.
