Jocelyn Landis is the boss at Doubleday, where Jackie Onassis used to work.
Landis interviewed Elaine Benes for a job at Doubleday but she got rejected due her lack of «grace». However, Elaine meets Justin Pitt there. Mr. Pitt, a Doubleday executive, hires her as his personal assistant.
In The Switch, after playing tennis, Elaine is recognized by Landis, but now hints there may be an opening for her there at Doubleday. Elaine lends Mr. Pitt's tennis racket, a Bruline, to her in hopes of getting a new job.
