Despite being the owner of a well-known catalog, J. Peterman seems to have a very awkward social life and an eccentric personality, such as the time he moved to Burma to settle his problems.
He's spent much of his life traveling the world and experiencing various cultures and escapades, and uses these stories to advertise the products in his catalog. He also uses his travels to witness various fashion customs to replicate in his own catalog.
