George realizes he has misplaced his keys, and retraces his steps to where he jumped over a pothole that's now been paved over. He employs a freelance maintenance crew to dig the keys out, but Ralph (the leader of the trio of workers) says that is a difficult job.
Since Ralph wants money, George agrees to do the jackhammering himself so that he only has to pay for the equipment.
